Alàbriga Hotel & Home Suites Opens its Doors

7 July 2017 marked a special date on the Costa Brava’s calendar, with the beautiful Sant Pol beach in Sant Feliu de Guíxols playing host to festivities celebrating the much-awaited opening of Alàbriga Hotel & Home Suites. Music, lights, performances and signature fine dining all combined to create a magical evening launching a project that promises to showcase the natural and cultural wealth of this Mediterranean region on an international scale.

Some 500 guests attending the grand opening enjoyed an unforgettable evening in unparalleled surroundings. They were also the first to discover the hotel interior and all the ways it will ensure that their guests get to enjoy the authentic Alàbriga experience, with the hotel philosophy based on offering exclusive and wholly personalized services.

One of the highlights of the evening was the meal prepared by Alàbriga´s Terra restaurant, led by holder of 5 Michelin stars, Paco Pérez. In addition to Terra, the dining spaces of the Sea Club and Garden, based on the delicious traditional cuisine of the Costa Brava, will be sure to attract enthusiasts of Mediterranean´s flavours from around the world.

The hotel’s signature cutting-edge design was present down to the finest details, with the striking staff uniforms created by renowned designer Miquel Suay. Glamour was also firmly in the limelight thanks to the red carpet welcoming guests, including stunning A-list actress Ana de Armas. As guest of honour, de Armas’ presence represented the return of luxury and sophistication to the Costa Brava, as a nod to the region’s heydays in the 1960s and 70s when it became a playground for some of Hollywood’s brightest stars. Actress of the moment, de Armas leads the new Blade Runner movie, out in October, also starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, and was reportedly enthralled by the beauty of the hotel and its natural setting. Other international celebrities including the Costa Brava’s high society and former FC Barcelona player Xavi Hernández were also present to celebrate the beginning of this great adventure. One of the most eagerly-anticipated arrivals of the evening was Baroness Thyssen, who owns a home nearby and is the idyllic region’s greatest champion.

The event also hosted an exclusive performance by renowned Catalan theatre company “Els Comediants”, known for their spectacles blending various artistic disciplines. Fire, water, music and acrobatics dominated a performance in which owners Valery and Svetlana Scherer were delivered the key to the former Hotel Alàbriga, with the new hotel sharing the same site and preserving the name in its honour. Guests were in fact invited to discover the history of Sant Feliu de Guíxols’ legendary establishment by means of video mapping projected onto the hotel´s façade.

The evening culminated in a party led by Alàbriga’s resident DJ, DJ Aster and guest DJ Fred Guzzo. Revellers also enjoyed cocktails devised by the Sea Club’s renowned resident mixologist Manel Vehí, who developed an exclusive menu for the occasion.

With the evening embodying luxury, comfort and beauty, the very hallmarks of this unique project, there was no better way to welcome the world to Alàbriga’s World!
